"People go on vacations to escape but for me, my home is my escape"
How this doctor-turned-jewellery designer has built a better life
Who among us can truthfully say they haven’t daydreamed of having 10 arms like Goddess Durga when they were being crushed under the weight of balancing everything in their lives? Okay, if we can’t have Durga’s arms, at least one can fantasize about having the efficiency of a juggler. We imagine it would definitely come in handy when you have just too much to achieve and too little time. Well, watch and learn from Preeti Jain for she is the master. Other than being a qualified doctor with a fellowship in dermatology, she is also a jewellery designer with a successful business of her own. Hustle is queen in her vocabulary.

There may be no rest for the wicked but they do need to catch their breath once in a while. But when we asked her how she does that, we were pleasantly surprised by her answer. “As women, I think we’re equipped to multitask by playing the roles that we do in everyone’s lives. My home is a place that helps me make my life better — people go on vacations to escape but for me, my home is my escape. A place where I can relax completely and just be myself,” Jain, a resident of Lodha- The World Towers, says with a smile.
In Better Life with Lodha, we go behind the scenes into the private worlds of accomplished women whose every day might look different from ours and each others’, but who are united by their need for a space to call their own.
In the third episode, Jain voices her need for building a better life by striking a balance and how her home has helped her do just that. “I like sitting on my deck while I work because the amazing Mumbai skyline motivates me to work harder and push myself.” She adds that her view of the sea helps keep her grounded and in touch with her roots when she needs to relax.
Jain had completed her fellowship in dermatology when she decided to pursue a career in jewellery design. “I’m proud of myself for making that decision as it was a point in my life when I already had an established career in medicine,” she says. It may have been her passion that led her there but it was her dedication that kept her going.

When all of us were stuck at home during the pandemic, Jain made the most out of it by diving deep into her jewellery business. She surrounded herself by the trees and flowers that inhabit her residence at The World Towers to keep herself inspired. “Some of my best pieces have been created here,” she confesses.
And on the days, she’s not exercising her creative muscles, she engages in conversations with like-minded people. The melting pot that is Lodha- The World Towers, they’re populated with people from varied walks of life. “A lot of the people I’ve met here are from completely different fields of work and they’ve taught me many things. My favourite pastime is talking to people who can help me learn more about myself and the world.”
