Neena Gupta and Masaba argue like you fight with your Ma, and it's endearing
And they reconcile over ghar ka khaana
Guilty as charged, we indulged in a bit of chance pe dance recently, and no, we don’t regret it. Amidst the growing demand for dark, complex shows on streaming platforms, dropped the funny six-part series, Masaba Masaba.
In the show, actor Neena Gupta and her designer daughter Masaba relive some of their personal struggles and career milestones. But we were interested in their personal equation.
Neenaji as we all love to call her reminds us of our favourite bua and chachi. Is she really this cool at home too? Do they argue like we do with our motherships? Does this Guptaji ki beti also love ghar ka khaana? Yes, yes and a resounding yes.
We stole the opportunity to sit down for a chat with the fierce mother-daughter duo, and were privy to their banter when Masaba said, “You know your parents, the older they grow, they become more like children. They become more stubborn. So I think it’s been a great learning game in patience.”
And her mother didn’t skip a beat, saying, “Not always, sometimes she is (patient), sometimes not.”
Reminds you of how parents burst your bubble of pride in front of your friends by revealing that you don’t cook every weekend, although your Instagram is flooded with #WeekendChef reels.
Well, at least you aren’t the only one playing the in-house censor board to your mom’s social media posts; Masaba does that too.
In the video, watch the two try to bridge the generation gap while touch upon some of the buzzwords of our time — feminism, marriage, ripped jeans, fad diets and self-care rituals.
