Twinkle Khanna shares her DIY decorating tips to make your bathroom sparkle this Diwali
With a little help from the Colours by Kohler India Palette
This festive season, you’ll find us with a full face of makeup, mom’s ‘borrowed’ chaand balis, sitting in front of our laptop screens to celebrate long-distance with our loved ones. It will also be common (but unspoken) knowledge that we’ve skipped pants for shorts.
Even if we’re taking shortcuts with our festive ensembles, our home will shine just as bright as it always does. Thankful for our refuge from the stormy weather of 2020, we’ve scheduled a full TLC session, starting with a colour palette that will infuse vigour and vitality to our sacred space.
In planning her Diwali overhaul, Twinkle Khanna is seeking inspiration from the Colours by Kohler India Palette.
“If your bathroom is an escape from the hullabaloo going on outside, I know it’s clearly mine, then you want it to be as lovely as possible. Make it your own with splashes of colour that can lift your spirits,” says Twinkle Khanna.
Take her advice and put aside the boring white sinks with stainless steel faucets, in favour of vessels that reflect your personality, bring you joy and lift your mood.
For the bold rule-breaker who knows exactly what she wants, look no further than the magical hues of the Peacock vessel from the Colours by Kohler collection.
Rose gold accents and an assortment of delicate succulents or air-cleansing plants (Khanna has a certified green thumb and is happiest spending hours in her garden) complete the fantasy experience.
“Recycle old bottles into new vases with flowers from your balcony or even a bunch of pretty leaves,” she says.
The warmth of Kohler’s Truffle, inspired by the dunes of the Thar desert, adds serenity and calmness to your inner sanctum.
“Throw in scented candles and hand towels,” she advises, steering you towards “a container candle infused with jasmine”, a Tweak favourite.
As for tastemaker herself, the classic “Thunder Grey makes a great addition to this space with its understated allure.”
Khanna’s approach to decorating the home seems to marry a sleek modern sensibility with organic touches and a hint of romance. A tiny detail here, a grand gesture there… every space should reflect with the owner’s unique personality.
She pulls more DIY suggestions to enhance your bath space from her little black book of festive tweaks: “A handful of mogra sprinkled on your white hand towels. Old pictures, all black and white in simple metal frames that are the same shade as your bathroom fittings.”
With a little help from the style icon and Colours by Kohler, your home will shine brighter than ever this Diwali.
