Loved by everyone but still enigmatic, that's the muse who inspires Ridhi Mehra
The designer on her Tweak India X Kohler collaboration
“This woman is larger than life, she is someone who is out there, loved and wanted by everyone. But at the same time she craves her own privacy,” says Ridhi Mehra of the enigmatic muse she dreamed up for her Tweak India X Kohler debut collaboration. No surprise, coming from the designer behind an eponymous label that’s best known for its clean lines, delicate details and that omnipresent hint of drama.
Her contemporary, fun take on Indian wear has amassed quite the fan following — because really how does one say no to delicious ruffled dupattas and saris, and feather-trimmed anarkalis that make for amazing boomerangs?
And it’s this dramatic aesthetic that she brought to the table for her collaboration with Tweak India X Kohler. Tasked with using their new Colours of India collection, the India Palette, she was enchanted by the seductive colour Thunder. Says Mehra, ” Thunder is a colour that reminds me of monsoon. It is strong, underrated and impactful. It’s rather bold and beautiful.”
Thunder comes to life in Mehra’s charcoal-tinted gem-encrusted draped gown — with its sinuous lines, exaggerated sleeves and classic colour, it’s both timeless and experimental. Describing Kohler as being associated with slow luxury, drama and a timeless appeal, she endeavoured to create a silhouette that pushes the boundaries and resonates with the spirit of the brand.
