Calling all lovers of lingerie
Wacoal, a premium lingerie brand, launches its lingerie fashion show in India
There are a few elusive goals in a woman’s life that she may spend decades chasing. The exciting career that’s fulfilling and challenging without subsuming your personal life. The flattering haircut that behaves itself without doing battle with an army of tools and products. The funny ice-breaker that will help you conquer any social event. Add to that, the miracle bra that will help you feel comfortable and supported while staying stylish. It’s a tall order, and one that any curvy Indian woman would admit has cost her significant hours on the hunt.
So imagine the dopamine surge that hit when we discovered Wacoal, a Japanese brand, making chic yet comfortable lingerie in a smorgasbord of styles that cater to many interests —from over-the-top to comfy, simple to spicy, and everything in between. The brand harnesses science, technology and innovation to provide the best fit, and has a trained group of consultants who take accurate measurements and assist you in choosing styles that work best for your body and lifestyle.

If the first thing you do when you get home is take off your bra, Wacoal’s comfortable fabrics might just get you to change your mind. The brand unveiled their inclusive range — Wacoal’s styles go up to 44E — with their first-ever lingerie fashion show in India.
The theme for the Autumn-Winter 2022 showcase was ‘Comfortable Inside, Confident Outside,’ and brought some of the most iconic models from Indian fashion history back to the ramp. Nayanika Chatterjee, who first started modelling in the late ‘80s, walked side-by-side with Deepti Gujral, Candice Pinto, Shamita Singha, and Binal Trivedi. Model-turned-actor Esha Gupta closed the show in a black satin corset dress with intricate embroidery on the bustier.

Explaining the brand’s decision to feature iconic models of all ages and transform the conventional way lingerie is worn, Pooja Merani, the COO of Wacoal India, says, “We’ve always strived to be a diverse and body-inclusive brand, and our show reflected that.” The brand has also streamed its show on YouTube. She adds, “After the success of this show, we are looking forward to curating and designing more in the future.”
So the next time you’re shopping for lingerie, you know you won’t have to sacrifice your personal style for comfort.
