“When people say go big or go home, I’ll just go home”
Interior designer Rukmini Ray Kadam tells us how she builds a better life
Hitting the club after a late dinner and taking the dance floor by storm might be someone’s ideal way to party, but interior designer Rukmini Ray Kadam would rather rearrange the furniture. Or set up a charcuterie board ‘‘for no reason at all’’. A certified introvert, as she likes to call herself, says her home means everything to her. “It’s the calm after the storm, the cherry on my cake, my one true Valentine. I truly unravel in this space,” she tells Tweak India.
In Better Life with Lodha, we go behind the scenes into the private worlds of accomplished women whose every day might look different from ours and each others’, but are united by their need for a space to call their own.
For Kadam, her own home is a blank canvas that can be rearranged and redone as per her mood. “If I am feeling very chaotic within, I balance that by adding whites. If I’m joyful, you’ll see colours,” she says.

At the end of a hectic day, you’ll find her hunkered in her cosy space with tea and Pinterest or a movie. She is someone who craves calm and thrives in nature, a combination she found at Lodha Sterling when we invited her over. “This is such a beautiful place. It’s like a sanctuary in the middle of the city,” she says as she takes a walk around the sprawling garden.

An oasis of calm, Lodha Sterling in Thane is a serene place to build a home. With easy access to top amenities within the premises — indoor and outdoor swimming pools, green landscapes, and a beautiful cafe — you’ll never feel the need to step out.
The conscious choice of building a home away from the bustling city is Kadam’s secret to a better life, she tells us as she signs off from her styling assignment at Lodha Sterling.
