Ghosts in your house are gossiping about you
Mumbai-based ghost hunters will track down the spirits in your attic and take care of them
The next time your pet barks at an empty wall, and you know you have an unwelcome, imaginary guest, don’t hit the panic button right away. Organise a high tea for them instead. Invite them over to your next game night. And, quickly book an appointment with Mumbai’s favourite ghost hunters who not only befriend spooks in your house, but can also make them leave if they are too intrusive.
Demonologist Sarbajeet Mohanty and psychic Pooja Vijay, founders of Parapsychology And Investigations Research Society (PAIRS), visited our colleague’s house last month. We discussed cinema, weather and food, and it was all easy-going until of course, they stared at a door, and declared that they had just sensed a spirit. And out came some gadgets which began to make strange sounds. While we were too shocked to even breathe, they started communicating with the spirits: “Give us a sign”, “Blink once if you’re a man, twice, if you’re a woman”, “Do you know that you’re dead?”
On Halloween, when you can’t help but think about Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein, we dare you to watch bits of our ghost hunters’ expedition at your own risk. They also bust myths about their job, and have a revelation to make: while you’re hating on the spirits in your house, they are gossiping about you too. “They can also cuss at you, but mostly, all they want is acceptance. A lot of them don’t realise that they are dead, and hence feel ignored in their afterlife,” says Mohanty. “Don’t be scared of them, show them some love and they’ll let you be.”
