Work From Home advantages: Pretending that tights are pants
It’s hard to accept that this day has come
Maybe we’ve gone crazy from the social distancing, or this is all a feverish dream we can’t wake up from. For all our sloganeering, jeering and side-eyeing, this country-wide work from home diktat has led us to this moment — accepting that tights are pants, in certain circumstances.
Leggings, tights, jeggings – whatever you want to call them. One thing we refuse to do is categorise them as pants. But as we’re holed up at home, braless and friendless, tights have finally become acceptable workplace attire. Work from home, that is.
Getting anything done when we know our bed is just a few steps away is hard enough. Staying in our PJs doesn’t make it any easier to concentrate. Changing from our nightsuits into ‘daywear’ gives us a sense that we’re getting ready to do something.
Even if it’s just schlepping our laptops to the living room.
You don’t have to slip into a three-piece bespoke suit, there’s nobody to impress. You want to be comfortable while you stress over meeting deadlines, feeding your cat and keeping your kitchen garden alive.
Like a hug for your body, tights hold you in as they stretch over every nook, cranny and curve. And we could all use some comfort right about now.
Since no one is around to get a look at the unfortunate and inevitable tights-induced camel toe, they are the pants-but-not-pants we’re changing into.
So with a heavy heart and a bite of the lip, we dug through the internet to get together the best tights you can get.
Before you wondering when hell froze over, we’re not thinking about the transition from working to a quick workout indoors.
We just want to eat our feelings in cake and leave the struggle to tights to keep it all tucked in. There’s no shame in that. Just don’t do it in public.
