Solving the great panty problem
Not all underwear is created equal
You made up your mind. Tomorrow you’re going to try a new morning routine, maybe start waking up at 5 am like Silicon Valley CEOs claim they do, take ice cold showers and drink green tea with lemon and ginger as opposed to your preferred shot of espresso giving you energy and anxiety at the same time. You’re determined to take that morning walk for some fresh air (if the AQI permits) and vitamin D (you should still wear sunscreen). But now you are in front of your cupboard, bleary-eyed and groggy from just waking up, trying to decide which pair of panties to wear. It seems like such a simple decision, but your choice can impact your state of mind so profoundly that your enthusiasm for finally getting your life on track starts to peter out with every passing minute. The panty paradox also makes the opposite experience true – how you feel, and your mood can determine if you opt for for comfortable underwear or a racy thong.
Millenials are coming full circle. Our relationship with panties began with our mothers picking out the plainest, most conservative options. As we stumbled through our teen years, the simple whites were replaced with dark colours as our hormones raged and our flow got more unpredictable than the best thriller books.
In our early 20s, we got bolder — the more strappy, vibrantly coloured and sexy, the more uncomfortable and impractical, but that didn’t deter us. We laughed and mocked older women for their ‘granny panties’. The high-waisted, full-coverage underwear was as sexy as your date walking in wearing socks with sandals.

But we’ve now taken that turn around the bend. Granny panties or ‘practical’ underwear are what can make a good day even better.
They’re reliable, hugging your curves in all the right places and giving you a sense of security that no lacy thong can match. We’re not bashing sexy lingerie. In fact, we love it. But we agree with our Tweak readers’ sentiment — not all underwear is created equal.
