13 bedroom organisation products, so you can finally see your floor again
Time to clear up that one chair that get’s dumped with clothes, books, towels and more
Despite having a perfectly adequate space to work from in my living room with a sofa and table to ease my WFH aches, pains and bad posture, you’ll find me mostly in a horizontal position in my bedroom. It is my island and escape. Shut the door and the outside world no longer exists. That is until my cat starts screaming bloody murder to be let in.
My bedroom is also my hall of shame. I am a stain on the pride of Virgos. Neither a perfectionist nor systematic. Don’t ask me why, it’s been so long that I don’t even remember the reason, but for about nine months last year I had a literal brick lying in my bedroom. But as that space became my new office, I had to get my act together if I wanted to get anything done in the day.
Like many others during this time, I had taken to retail therapy to soothe my soul. Instead of adding yet another shade of red lipstick to my shopping cart, I took a deep dive to find bedroom organisation products to sort out my chaotic living quarters.
I could no longer hide the clutter from the outside world behind a closed door. I had to face my disorganised way of living, even if it was so it could feel like I had some semblance of control over what’s happening all around us.
Free from dirty clothes, towels, shoe boxes. With some highly efficient bedroom organisation products, I can finally see my bedroom floor again.
I’ll save you some time and share my findings to help you pick out some bedroom organisation products and accessories to solve your storage woes.
13 bedroom organisation products to clean up your living quarters
Accessories stand, ₹750 – ₹890 Our bedroom organisation starts with the dressing table, perhaps the most cluttered space in the room. I have a special drawer that’s filled with all the adorably cute little boxes and pouches that jewellery nowadays seems to be delivered in. I’m a sucker for nice packaging. But that means half the time, I don’t even remember what I myself own. This little stand is functional, letting you keep your everyday wear in an easy-to-access spot that’s also aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Glass trinket box, ₹1,800 If you fall on the clumsier end of the spectrum, then our accessories tree might be more of a hazard than a helping hand. To keep yourself and your possessions out of harm’s way you can instead opt for these clear boxes. The glass lets you spot what’s inside, the lids keep the dust off your jewellery and the brass trim gives it an extra zhuzh. Spread them out or stack them up. If you’re in a rush, trying to find some earrings to wear in your next Zoom video interview call, then you know exactly which box to pick up. Makeup organiser, ₹799 Am I the only one who has bought two shades of the same lipstick after forgetting I already have one hiding in the depths of my makeup bag? The zip of my makeup pouch gets more exercise than I do at this point. Stretching itself over my ever-growing collection of mascaras and nude lipsticks. A makeup stand is super helpful in such situations to have all your products in one spot while not taking up too much space on your dressing tabletop. 4/13 ![]() Photo credit: IKEAMultipurpose storage boxes, ₹499 – ₹699 My sister has an obsession with these IKEA storage boxes. They come in different sizes, so you can store pretty much anything in them. But when you have a floor bed with no stands then these are also pretty nondescript to be labelled and stacked up in a corner of the bedroom. These have also been made using recycled paper. But their sustainability doesn’t mean they’re not durable too.

My bed is a strange height, where it’s not high off the ground enough for the space to be used to store my suitcase. But I had an Aha moment when I saw these on the IKEA website while trawling through to solve my storage vows. For linens, shoes and clothes you keep telling yourself you’re going to wear one day (but we all know you’re not) – these bins come with lids to keep it all clean and can be sleekly slid under the bed. Out of sight and out of mind.

Or you’re just too lazy to do the separation before your wash. I’ve been guilty of both on more than one occasion. A friend suggested just getting two separate laundry bins so you can do the deed from the get-go. This one stood out for its clear demarkation for noobs like me and made life a whole lot easier. And my whites stay white. 7/13 ![]() Photo credit: Modern QuestsBedside caddy, ₹1,995 If your bed is your island – it has been mine through lockdown – then there’s a chance that you have a collection of books, digital accessories and snacks that have collected on your bedside table. This little bedside caddy will hold all your belongings – iPad, Kindle, remote controls, books, reading glasses, headphones and more. It’s a cute little addition, which may be more suited to a kids room, but works for us adult children as well. You’re less likely to lose things and you can move it around from your sofa to your bed and back, whichever spot you’ve chosen to vegetate in. 8/13 ![]() Photo credit: PepperfryFloating shelves, ₹1,719 (set of 3) There’s space in my bedroom for all of one table-cum-drawer which is meant to hold all my toiletries, notebooks, books. When you’re short on space on the ground, then take to the walls. This set of shelves has made it easier to keep my books organised and in line of sight as well. Constantly reminding me to read the ones I’ve already purchased instead of getting excited and buying more. 9/13 ![]() Photo credit: Modern QuestsMulti hook sticks, ₹2,195 I have an exercise cycle in my room, but the joke is that it’s used more often to dry clothes and as a place to hang my bags and face masks. It could be just another quirky addition to your wall decor. But this also happens to be functional with pull-down hooks on which you can hang up that towel that’s been trying to dry in the corner of your room, your bags and handbag. 10/13 ![]() Photo credit: AmazonSeparating shelf partition, ₹925 (set of 4) The time came to finally tackle my Everest, my cupboard. Since I was a kid, the ladoos in my life have been rolled up t-shirts, pants and basically anything that I dump directly back into my cupboard. Then spending the next few days fretting over not being able to find what I’m looking to wear, blaming everyone else but myself. These partitions not only force you to be a little neater with your clothes in the cupboard but you can separate your pants from your t-shirts, day wear from night suits. You can slide these dividers onto pretty much any shelf in the house. 11/13 ![]() Photo credit: AmazonAdjustable drawer partition, ₹606 Everyone’s draw of shame, the sock/underwear drawer, in most cases, the drawer serves as both. This is an adjustable partition that you can fit into your drawer to separate the two and not have to be a total hot mess in the mornings when you’re trying to find your sock’s soulmate but instead, keep pulling out another pair of underwear. Only me? OK. 12/13 ![]() Photo credit: AmazonS-shaped hanger, ₹389 (set of 3) It’s very likely that you’ve seen something like this in your parents’ closet already. Used by your father to organise his ties or by your mum for her sarees. I used to find them particularly unattractive, but as you grow up, you realise that functionality comes first, aesthetics second when it comes to matters of bedroom organisation. Especially when you’re short on cupboard space and need to hang things up. Club together whatever you need – formal pants, sarees and dupattas.

Just make sure to check the size of the ones you’re buying. I accidentally bought one that was sized for children’s shoes while I, myself, am a size 7. If shoe shopping is your favourite pass time then you will love this addition to your shoe rack or shoe drawer to give you more space. |
